Kung Fu Tea is a fearless and rapidly-expanding bubble tea chain with over 200 locations globally. The Kung Fu Tea brand is “relentless for mastery” across all aspects of their business, and that includes a premium digital loyalty program with social rewards.

As social media is a core element to Kung Fu Tea’s overall marketing strategy, social integration for their loyalty app was a natural fit for the program. In August 2018, Kung Fu Tea integrated Popdeem into their loyalty app to introduce social connectivity, and to reward app users for sharing #KungFuTea experiences across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the objective of turning loyal app members into brand advocates.

Once Popdeem’s social integration was added to the app, Kung Fu Tea was able to reward customers in a variety of ways when they connected and interacted with the brand on social media. Some of the rewards, for example, have included: 

  • Earn $1 credit instantly for connecting your first social media account (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram)
  • Earn an additional 5 reward bubbles (points) for posting a photo of our new Sesame Matcha drink with #KFTSesameMatcha
  • Earn $50 gift card for sharing your National Bubble Tea Day experience with #NBTD
  • KFT Halloween Costume Contest – #KFTCostumeContest
  • Earn instant loyalty points or credit for sharing your #KungFuTea experiences

For customers, this new social experience was seamlessly added to their existing loyalty app through an integration with LevelUp, so all they needed to do was update the app with the new Popdeem features so they could earn even more rewards.
